Breathing Under Water is the second song we’ve written based around Ophelia - the first is on the ‘electric’ ep. The initial idea was Jamie’s as is the chord pattern. Basically, he wrote the melody and lyrics for the verses and Evelyn wrote the chorus - though there was much sharing of thoughts!! The arrangement and instrumentation for this took a long time to complete and much of the atmosphere is down to Andy’s work at the Goat Shed. Wonderful flute line from Eve weaving its way through the first verse.

One more footstep, take your time
It can lead you from the absurd to the sublime
Where the rosemary grows, well nobody knows, or nobody can remember
And if its pansies for thoughts, well I must have all sorts, and I watch them scatter....

And the whiteness washes over

Now I’m breathing under water
Dancing with the tide
Moving to a rhythm I can hear inside
When they’re gone.

I am not dreaming, take my hand
I shall sing to you of ways to understand

I make a garland for you, from the cornflower blue, it’s the colour of how I’m feeling
And now I’m playing at god, and I know that it’s odd, but I’m sure I'm sinking....
