This Feeling is one of the earliest songs on the album (only Some Days Are Like This predates it.) It’s another song that was written after the day out at Harlech in June 2002 - this one being written immediately in the days following. Melody, chords and words are Jamie’s, with Evelyn offering some thoughts on the lyrics - the middle eight giving most pause for thought. Eve’s flute introduction is terrific and sets the mood for the whole song.
lyrics
I feel the sun against my skin
A new day dawns, a new world begins
So much pleasure must be a sin
But it doesn't really matter, no it doesn't really matter...
No summer rain will fall on me,
I walk on water - challenge gravity,
The road I want lies at my feet
Coz there's nothing in the way now, no there's nothing in the way of
This feeling....
My emotions are an ocean and I’m moving with the tide
My head cries out reason but I can't deny what's inside
I'm calm upon the surface yet underneath the waves
The currents are pulling and what carries me away is this feeling......
The far horizon is a purple haze
Stretches on forever like these endless days
Life's an open road and I'm on my way
Cos that’s all that really matters now, yes all that really matters...
This feeling...
